Tikhanovskaya’s autographed flag sold for almost 10 thousand dollars

A white-red-white flag signed by the former presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya was sold at an electronic auction for almost $ 10,000. This was announced on Friday, November 27 by Telegram -channel “Country for Life”.

The cost of the canvas was 9.9 thousand dollars. “The funds raised by the Country for Life Fund will be sent to help the families of prisoners, volunteers and activists,” it was reported.

As Naviny.by wrote, the flag was put up for auction on November 17. The initial cost was $ 50.

White-red-white was the state flag of Belarus in 1991-1995. Then, in a referendum, a majority of citizens voted to replace it with a red-green one, reminiscent of the BSSR flag. White-red-white symbols are used by Belarusian protesters.

Mass protests in Belarus erupted after the presidential elections on August 9. The CEC announced that Alexander Lukashenko, who was running for a sixth term, received 80 percent of the vote, and the wife of the arrested blogger, Tihanovskaya, 10 percent. Rallies have begun throughout the country and have been going on for the fourth month. The first shares were violently accelerated. Protesters demand new, fair elections and punishment of those responsible for the violence against the demonstrators.

Tikhanovskaya is currently in Lithuania. Lukashenko argued that the West was behind what was happening in Belarus.
