US postpones TikTok ban

The US government has postponed the ban on the TikTok app until December 4. This was reported by RIA Novosti citing the statement of the press service of the social network.

It is noted that on November 25, the Committee on International Investment in the United States granted a deferral for another week, from November 27 to December 4, 2020.

Earlier, the United States postponed the deadline for concluding a deal on the refusal of ByteDance from all TikTok related assets in the country for 15 days. According to the company’s statement, the US Foreign Investment Committee has set a deadline of November 27 for reaching an agreement, extending the previously set deadline, which expired on Thursday, November 12. TikTok declined to comment on the submitted application.

On September 18, it became known that users living in the United States will not be able to install TikTok or WeChat updates. The authorities will not force users to remove applications from their phones, however, they will oblige Apple and Google to remove Chinese applications from their platforms available in the country. At the same time, Apple and Google will be able to save applications on platforms operating in other countries.
