British scientists talked about the consequences of a lack of vitamin D in the body, according to Express.
It is noted that a deficiency of this vitamin can lead to osteomalacia (a systemic disease characterized by insufficient bone mineralization – approx. “Lenta.ru”). According to doctors, in the early stages, the disease can develop imperceptibly. It can only be detected by X-rays or diagnostic studies.
The researchers noted that a lack of vitamin D can cause aching pain in the pelvis, lower back, legs, hips and ribs. The pathology is dangerous for the elderly, as it leads to fractures and osteoporosis.
Earlier, researchers from Boston University School of Medicine found out that among those infected with coronavirus patients with normal levels of vitamin D in the blood are significantly less severe cases and deaths. Adequate vitamin D can help prevent complications such as cytokine storms.
