Near the town of Chernomorsk in the Odessa region, the tugboat Amethyst of the maritime search and rescue service began to sink, Gordonua.com reports citing local media.
A slick of oil products has formed around the sinking ship. The base personnel tried to pump out water from the compartments, but by the evening of November 25, the accident could not be localized.
According to rescuers, in the parking lot in the village of Aleksandrovka, where “Amethyst” is located, thefts of metal have taken place for several years in a row. The intruders removed the watertight doors and bulkheads from the ships.
“Amethyst” was built in 1977, the crew is 35 people.
