The Minister of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Dmitry Kuleba said that the country is ready to join reconstruction of Afghanistan. Ukrinform informs about it.
“I want to convey a simple message. The time has come not just to look for the best formulations to support the territorial integrity and sovereignty of Afghanistan, but to act. The way we know how to act,” he said at the Afghanistan 2020 conference.
Kuleba believes that the Ukrainian side can participate in economic, infrastructure and energy projects, as well as supply industrial and construction goods, locomotives, tractors and railway equipment. “Our specialists are ready to organize trainings for Afghan engineers involved in the construction of railway infrastructure and warning systems,” said the Ukrainian diplomat.
He expressed support for the efforts of the Afghan authorities in promoting a nationwide dialogue. Kuleba believes that it is the country’s economic development that will contribute to the strengthening of peace, prosperity and stability in the region.
In July, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo announced US troop withdrawal from Afghanistan by May 2021. He stressed that the American army has cut its military presence in the country by half.
Former Afghan President Hamid Karzai stated that the so-called American” war on terrorism “formed the basis of the problems that Afghanistan has faced in the last two decades since the fight was fought in the wrong direction.
