WHO reveals record growth in coronavirus infections in a week

The World Health Organization (WHO) has revealed a record increase in the number of coronavirus infections in a week, what follows from her report .

Over the past week, the number of people infected worldwide has increased by 4.07 million. The number of deaths was almost 68 thousand, which is 11 percent more than in the previous week.

Experts noted that the rate of spread of the infection has slowed down, which is especially noticeable in Europe (which, at the same time, remains the leader in terms of growth rates) and Southeast Asia. It is emphasized that in Africa the number of cases is growing relatively slowly.

Formerly Director of the WHO Health Emergencies Program Michael Ryan suggested that the coronavirus began to spread around the world after infecting several zero patients. He added that there is no doubt about the natural origin of the virus. However, the version of the first transmission of SARS-CoV-2 from a bat has not yet been proven.
