Apple top manager caught in bribe

The head of security Apple Thomas Moyer was caught trying to give the police a bribe in exchange for obtaining a concealed weapon permit for several company employees. This is said in a statement from the Santa Clara County, California district attorney.

Moyer is accused of offering the head of police 200 iPads worth $ 70,000. The top manager’s lawyer said that he denied his guilt and was confident that he would be acquitted. According to him, the gadgets were going to be transferred to the sheriff’s office and indeed applied for permits to carry weapons, but there is no connection between the first and second events, writes CNBC. The court hearing will take place in January 2021 and Moyer could face jail time.

In June 2020, NBC Bay Area established that people who made a donation to the campaign of Lori Smith, who was elected as the sheriff of Santa Clara County six times in a row, was more likely to receive a license to carry a concealed weapon. Its final term expires in 2022. In 1998, she became the first woman in state history to be elected to this position.
