The Prime Minister of Great Britain Boris Johnson commented on the data on trials of a vaccine against coronavirus AZD1222 by AstraZeneca. The politician made his statement in Twitter .
“Our brilliant scientists from Oxford and AstraZeneca are great, keep it up,” the prime minister wrote. He called the test results of the British vaccine fantastic. Johnson added that there will be several more drug tests ahead.
Earlier, representatives of AstraZeneca told that an interim analysis of vaccine clinical trials showed an average efficiency of 70 percent. Studies also found that protection against COVID-19 appears 14 days after receiving two doses of the vaccine.
In September, AstraZeneca suspended trials of its COVID-19 vaccine after one of the study participants contracted transverse myelitis (inflammation of the spinal cord). Later, in October, it became known about the death of one of the volunteers of the national vaccine trials against AstraZeneca. The test taker was found to have received a placebo and the company continued testing.
