In the USA, a 19-year-old boy fell from a 15-meter height and was crushed by a truck. After the accident, Lauren Schauers lost his right arm and the entire lower body, including the hips and genitals, writes the Daily Mail.
In September 2019, a young man, working as a truck driver at a construction site, lost control. The car began to fall, and Shaurez was caught to jump out of the cab, but his leg caught on the seat belt. Together with the car, he fell from a 15-meter height, and the truck, having rolled over three times, crushed the young man to the ground.
According to the young man, all this time he was conscious. “I remember looking to the right when the truck was lying on my body, and there was a large piece of muscle from my arm, just lying on the ground next to me,” – recalled Showers.
Later it turned out that he survived only thanks to the soft earth: if it were hard, Shawers’s girlfriend Sabia clarified, the young man’s body would have been cut in half, and he would have died before the rescuers arrived.
As the American himself noted, his arm was amputated immediately, while the lower limbs were still hoping to save. However, after diagnosing, the doctors found out that the boy’s hip bones were completely destroyed. And then he agreed to hemicorporectomy – an operation in which the lower limbs are removed along with the pelvis.
Doctors did not hope that Showers would survive, and invited his family to say goodbye. So, during the first month of the young man’s stay in the hospital, they said goodbye to him six times. However, the young man is on the mend.
Sabia noted that her boyfriend is being creative to be as independent as possible. For example, he learned to put on a prosthesis and sit down without assistance. In addition, Showers proposed to his beloved. The couple plans to get married in 2021 or 2022.
