Xiaomi is mistakenly considered a company that produces low quality products, reports the Chinese edition cnBeta with reference to the statement of the head of the corporation Lei Jun.
Speaking at the annual meeting of the Yabuli Forum, a Xiaomi executive noted that he was upset by three common misconceptions about the company. The first and most important thing Jun said was the opinion that Xiaomi produces low-level products and dumps the market. The head of the corporation said that in 2020 the company released several premium devices, in particular, the Mi 10 Extreme Commemorative Edition smartphone and a 98-inch TV, worth 20,000 yuan.
The second myth that Jun tried to dispel is that Xiaomi uses the services of OEMs, that is, it does not directly develop and assemble its own devices. To this, the head of the company noted that they have several factories, including a modern factory in Beijing, which can produce 10 million smartphones annually.
The third misconception Jun called the myth that Xiaomi does not have its own technologies. As an example, a top manager said that the cameras in the brand’s leading smartphones were invented from scratch by the company’s engineers. He also admitted that Xiaomi has nine mobile photography laboratories around the world.
At the beginning of the year, the head of Xiaomi revealed the secret of the company’s name. According to Lei Jun, the “mi” at the end of the word stands for mobile internet and is an abbreviation for the film’s title Mission: Impossible.
