First store with virtual employees is opened in Japan

The Japanese network of round -the -clock stores Lawson with 17,600 outlets around the world opened its first store, almost completely equipped with digital avatars.

Green Lawson Shop shows customers an avatar on the screen, and a remote employee responds to requests or processes several transactions that cannot be made using a self -service cash desk (for example, payment of accounts).

The network called this approach inclusive, because it allows you to remotely work as antisocial people or personnel with limited mobility. Remote employees are represented by cartoon avatars – a man and a woman – to match the voice of the speakers at the checkout.

The store also has robotic systems that determine when the buyer stands in front of the shelf in the trading floor. At this moment, the robot automatically pronounces the advantages of the product, for example: “This is very tasty. I want you to take it”, etc.

Automated systems also check the identity of the buyer to confirm his age when buying alcohol or cigarettes. Some living employees will remain in Green Lawson stores, but they will interact with customers, and not sit at the box office.

The first chain store “Green Lawson” in Tokyo promotes an environmentally friendly lifestyle, stopping the sale of plastic bags and disposable dishes since January 10. To reduce the amount of food waste, the Green Lawson store will have more frozen lunch in boxes, which have a longer shelf life than products stored at room temperature or in the refrigerator.

The company also develops a custom -made food service and plans to export unnecessary paper bags from customer houses to re -use them as bags for purchases.

General Director of Lawson Sadanobu Takemas said that by 2025 the company plans to open 100 such stores.
