Salary claims: 170 employees have Bercy 2 shopping center

Supported by the CGT, they denounce the fact that thirty employees of the Carrefour store in Charenton-le-Pont were “assigned to court” following a strike to request an increase in wages.

The Bercy 2 shopping center has been occupied since Wednesday, December 7 in the morning by mass distribution employees. They ask for wage increases and support employees of the crossroads of this center located in Charenton-le-Pont (Val-de-Marne) “assigned to the court” in Créteil for having strike, according to a CGT Trade question by the France-Presse agency (AFP).

“Bercy 2 shopping center: the employees decided to occupy it overnight,” warns a leaflet broadcast on social networks by the CGT Commerce et Services. About 170 employees were still on site Wednesday evening.

The occupation, which started on Wednesday morning around 10 am, gathered up to more than 500 employees of large distribution, according to Amar Lagha, secretary general of the federation.

This action is part of a broader context of strikes and occupations of sites aimed at obtaining a minimum wage of 2,000 euros per month.

“The only way to be heard today is to block the economy,” added the trade unionist while employees must decide on Thursday at 9 am during a general meeting if they wish to continue The movement.

Rental-line online from sight

The union chose this store in particular because, according to Mr. Lagha, around thirty employees were “assigned to the court” of Créteil by the new manager, a franchisee, for a day of strike organized last week.

It is a question of “denouncing the consequences of rental-management” and “reaffirm that no one will be able to silence”, despite this “very strong repression” which followed a “very pacifist” movement, adds the union manager.

Since the arrival at its head of Alexandre Bompard in 2017, the Carrefour group has passed dozens of rental-management stores each year to, according to him, relaunch the activity and preserve employment. The unions, themselves, denounce a social breakage which does not say its name.

Rental-management is a form of franchise in which the store manager is not the owner of the business who therefore continues to belong to Carrefour. Contacted by AFP, the Carrefour group indicated that, the store being in franchise, it was not directly concerned and therefore had no comments to make.
