Microsoft updated its universal licensing conditions for online services , prohibiting the extraction of Cryptocurrency in any Microsoft service without prior approval of the company. The ban also applies to the cloud computing service of Microsoft Azure.
“Neither the client, nor those who get access to the web service through the client can use the web service for mining cryptocurrency without the preliminary written permission of Microsoft,” the updated rules .

Now users need to get preliminary written approval from Microsoft before using online services for mining cryptocurrencies, regardless of the subscription period. Cryptocurrency production permit can be considered for testing and security research. “
Microsoft made changes because “Mining of cryptocurrencies can lead to malfunctions or even a deterioration in the work of online services, and can often be associated with cyber abuse and unauthorized access to customer resources and their use.”
