Smile into camera: Dominican police are looking for criminals using an application recognizing person

The new person recognition, introduced by the police of the Dominican Republic, in just 4 months helped to find and arrest 843 suspects of various crimes. The application tells the patrol, whether the person has a criminal record, whether he owns a weapon or is on the run from justice, simply scanning his face.

The system takes information from the state database containing biometric data on more than 10 million people. How it works:

  • The screen becomes red, if it turns out that an arrest warrant was issued to a stopped person. In this case, he must be immediately detained and delivered to the police station;
  • Green means that a person does not have any criminal records and offenses;
  • yellow means that a person has a person Harvesting;
  • a grave color means that a person owns firearms. In this case, an additional check is carried out to make sure that the permission to carry weapons is indeed.

In addition, the application allows you to obtain information on the human identification number and may mark the stolen machines. With it, it was possible to detect 2,791 stolen cars.
