A French tourist died, on the night of Monday 12 to Tuesday, December 13, after being attacked, with her husband, by an “unbalanced” near Rabat, said to the France-Presse agency (AFP) The director of Moulay Youssef Hospital, where the two victims had been transferred.
This octogenarian “succumbed to a head trauma. Her husband, also octogenarian, is in a stable state. He arrived aware in the hospital,” the Docteure Leïla Derfoufi told AFP.
“It is a couple. The woman, born in 1940, unfortunately died. She has already died in the hospital. We are very disappointed not to have been able to save her,” regretted the Director of the Hospital. According to local authorities, the couple had been seriously injured after being attacked with stone blows by a “unbalanced” on Monday in Moulay Bousselham, in the province of Kenitra, near Rabat.
An individual with “signs of mental imbalance” was arrested and placed in police custody by the local gendarmerie, the authorities added. According to first information, the man “assaulted the two tourists for no apparent reason using stones, causing them injuries of various severities”, added the same source, without other details.
An investigation is underway under the supervision of the prosecution. On January 15, a 79 -year -old French tourist was murdered by stabbing weapon on a Tiznit market near Agadir, in southern Morocco. Moroccan justice had dismissed the terrorist track, concluding that the murderer’s criminal irresponsibility due to “mental disorders” and ordering his internment in a psychiatric hospital.
