They will be reimbursed for double the amount of their ticket. Travelers whose trains have been deleted for the Christmas weekend because of a controller strike will benefit from a 200 %reimbursement, Christophe Fanichet, CEO of SNCF Travelers, on Franceinfo, said on Wednesday, December 21, adding that This strike would cost “several tens of millions of euros” at the SNCF.

“I want to apologize for the company. (…) A strike for Christmas holidays is really unacceptable, I am angry.”

The strike, to which the SNCF unions have not openly called, but for which they left a notice, will cause the cancellation of approximately one train in three this weekend, mainly TGV.

Friday, in detail, two in three TGVs should circulate on the Atlantic and Mediterranean axes, and one in two train on the north axis. The Paris-Lille shuttle will however be almost normal. Three TGVs are on four will run. TGVs between provincial stations should be more affected. Three out of four Ouigo should also circulate. Intercities will ride normally, even if deletions have been reported.

SNCF ensures that travelers can exchange their tickets for free online, if their initial train is deleted, without having to pay a difference in price or exchange fees, certainly provided you find places in trains now almost complete for the weekend.

“The exchange is free, they can take another train on the same destination, any other day, without any pricing increase,” said Christophe Fanichet. The SNCF has not yet given the details of the cancellations for Saturday and Sunday, but has already said that the situation should be slightly degraded compared to Friday.
