In a statement, 69 of the 112 opposition elected officials who had argued the self -proclamation of Mr. Guaido as acting president in 2019 judge that this device is now in a dead end.
Almost four years after the self -proclamation of Juan Guaido, a large part of his support from the first hour want the dead end. In a statement, 69 of the 112 opponents who had spoken out for its designation as acting president in 2019, when the opposition controlled the Parliament, asked, Wednesday, December 21, the end of the “acting government” of Mr. Guaido , believing that this device was weakened without achieving its political objectives.
“We are addressing the country (…) for the implementation of the Constitution of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela [and] the cessation of the acting government planned for January 4,” said a declaration signed by 69 of the 112 opponents who had supported Mr. Guaido’s self-proclamation as interim president in 2019.
“The expected objectives of Liberation have not been achieved and the country requires new paths that will lead us to democracy”, continues the text of the group made up of members of the greatest opposition parties: Democratica accion ( Ad), Primero Justicia (PJ) and a nuevo tiempo (Unt).
This initiative intervenes on the eve of the session of the Parliament elected in 2015, which is legitimate by considering that the legislative elections of 2020, won by the Chavist camp of President Nicolas Maduro, were fraudulent.
International support has grieved
This session was convened at the end of last week by Juan Guaido, who affirms that his “interim presidency” is “essential” for the “non-recognition of the regime” of Nicolas Maduro, for diplomatic recognition and the ” Protection “of the country’s assets abroad.
“I can say with certainty that the constitutional mechanism (…) that we have defended was useful to disavow the dictatorship and deliver aid (…), protect the assets, support this stage of democratic resistance”, declared M. Guaido in a video posted on social networks in which he asks to wait for the results of the debate.
The signatories of the Wednesday text argue that the vast international support which Juan Guaido benefited in 2019 has grieved. If the United States remains by his side, he has since lost the support of countries like Argentina, Mexico, Peru and more recently Colombia, all passed to the left.
