Committee rates up in 2023

The strongly inflationary context must restore colors to the remuneration rates of savings booklets and promote the return of term accounts.

If the rise in guiding rates were to continue in 2023, it should be favorable to savings booklets. Already raised twice in 2022, the remuneration of booklet A and the sustainable and solidarity development booklet (LDDS), brought to 2 % in August, should again take colors. Partly indexed to inflation, it could reach, or even exceed, 3 % on 1 er February 2023.

Nothing has yet been acted. The governor of the Banque de France must proceed with the calculation in January – he however has power, if he considers that exceptional circumstances justify him, to propose to the Minister of the Economy to derogate from the normal calculation formula.

The rates of the popular savings book (LEP, 4.6 % today), accessible under resource conditions, and the young booklet must also increase in February, the first following inflation, the second being fixed By banks, but without being able to be lower than the rate of booklet A. “These risk -free and liquid investments must therefore be completed as a priority as a precautionary savings, within the limit of the ceilings imposed by the regulations”, advises Stefan de Quelen, Managing Director of Best Placement.

On the side of ordinary, fiscalized banking booklets, the remuneration rates have changed little in 2022, compared to regulated booklets. They remain low, evolving, at the end of November, between 0.04 % and 1.20 % gross per year, with here and there promotions limited in time ensuring 3 % or 3.5 % gross annual on the two, three or four first months.

not in terms of inflation

“We have already raised the rate of our booklet twice, passing it from 0.5 % to 1 %,” said Sarah Zamoun, Director of Distinguo (PSA Banque), explaining that “there is No automatic correlation between the evolution of rates on the market and the remuneration of these booklets, each actor has its strategy “.

“The ascent should be done gradually, there is a certain inertia. We are planning an increase in the rate of our booklet in 2023”, announces Grégory Guermonprez, French director of the Fortuneo online bank.

If a more rhythmic waltz of the labels should engage next year for these booklets, some establishments are also preparing new offers of term accounts, a placement that had disappeared in recent years with the continuous reflux of rates. At the end of November, already, Distinza closed a “flash” offer of a term account over eighteen months at 2 %.
