The FBI and the Office for Sanitary Supervision of the Quality of Food Products and U.S. Medicines reported the frequent cases of cyber attacks. The report of law enforcement officers says that attackers are actively conducting the BEC attacks, impersoning the employees of legitimate companies. Typically, scammers send fake orders for large food supplies on credit.
, as an example of the FBI, it led one of the August attacks, when the supplier received an order for a sugar truck on credit from a senior employee of an unnamed American company. The recipient of the request noticed an extra letter in the Domain Address of the sender, after which he contacted the company, on behalf of which the attacker wrote to him and found out that there is no such employee.
However, not everyone was so lucky. The FBI spoke about another August attack when the supplier received an email from the international company for food and drinks with a request to supply two milk milk trucks. Since the request came from the “financial director of the company”, the cargo was sent. As it turned out later, the order turned out to be Fakeov, and the supplier was more than $ 160,000.
Other scams associated with dry milk led to losses in the amount of up to $ 600,000.
In order to avoid such incidents, FBI and sanitary supervision of the quality of food and medicines, the United States recommend that representatives of the companies double -check the contact information provided by customers and monitor small changes in domain names. They also advise employees to undergo training to identify phishing emails.
