Sentenced to eighteen years in criminal imprisonment, the two main convicts at the Nice attack on the verdict of the Paris Special Assize Court, the national anti-terrorist prosecutor’s office announced on Monday, December 26.
At the end of more than three months of audience, Chokri Chafroud and Mohamed Ghraieb had been found guilty, on December 13, of the association of terrorist criminals for their involvement in the attack on the Trucks which had left 86 dead and 450 injured on July 14, 2016. The attacker, Mohamed Lahouaiej Bouhlel, had been killed by the police.
The Court had been more severe than the requisitions by condemning Mr. Chafroud and Mr. Ghraieb to eighteen years’ imprisonment for terrorism – two to fifteen years had been required by the accusation against the eight accused. The other six received sentences ranging from two to twelve years in prison for common law offenses.
