Currently, artificial intelligence tools can be used to more efficiently detect threats and protection from them, but, on the other hand, cybercriminals can use this technology for attacks that are carried out periodically – it is more difficult to protect themselves from them, since they are carried out simultaneously in large numbers .
Assistant Secretary General of NATO for new security challenges David Van Van Wil said that AI can be used to hack networks using accounting data and algorithms for hacking.
“cyber attacks using AI can be used not only to turn off the infrastructure, but also for malicious use of information,” said Alberto Domingo, technical director for cyberspace NATO.
Despite the fact that decisions are being developed to combat cyberats of artificial intelligence, we will not be able to avoid them if we do not sacrifice our free on the Internet.
“We created cyberspace in such a way that it is open to everyone. This is an environment for the development of ideas. We want freedom in cyberspace. The price that we must pay for this freedom is to be realistic and recognize that there will be attacks in the networks. The only way to cope with attacks is to use all mechanisms and technologies to protect, as well as to respond and recover after these attacks, ”concluded Domindo.
November 28 to December 2 in Estonia, NATO Cyber Coalition, which are one of the largest in the world, took place in Estonia. About 1000 people from more than 40 alliance countries, as well as their partners, took part in the exercises.
