Investigative Committee of Russia discussed measures to combat cybercrime

The chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, held a meeting to counteract cybercrime and the use of digital technologies in the investigation of crimes. This was reported in the press service of the department.

According to the head of the department, cybercrime is a serious threat to society. Through the Internet, youth involve various radical currents, cyber abusivers are cynical to the older generation, harm IT infrastructure, ordinary citizens and organizations are harmful.

According to statistics, which was brought by Alexander Bastrykin, in recent years the growth of crimes committed using IT technologies has been recorded. If in 2020 the SK was investigated 11.5 thousand such crimes, then in 2021 – over 12 thousand, and only in 10 months of this year – 13 thousand. According to the Cybercriminals investigated by the IC, at the stage of preliminary investigation, it was possible to compensate for the damage in the amount of about 1.2 billion rubles, the property of the accused in the amount of over 1.5 billion rubles was seized.

Bastrykin instructed his subordinates to formulate the main directions of the future development program of the UK in an ite using exclusively domestic technologies.

The head of the UK also proposed to work out the issue of concluding agreements with some companies in the field of information technology, cybersecurity and “having tools for processing large volumes of data.” “Such agreements will accelerate the exchange of information on electronic communication channels with these companies. The opportunities that they have is helping to investigate crimes,” said Alexander Bastrykin.

In addition, during the meeting, the department discussed the idea of ​​creating a single forensic accounting of electronic traces. As explained in the UK, such a base will improve the interaction between investigators from different regions, if the same persons committed crimes in several constituent entities of the Russian Federation.

The meeting was paid to the meeting of personnel specializing in the investigation of cybercrime. The initiative was made to create a portal with the necessary literature, methodological recommendations for such work.
