Patrick Drahi threatened by record tax recovery in Switzerland

7.4 billion Swiss francs, or nearly 7.5 billion euros. This is the titanic amount of the tax invoice which threatens in Switzerland Patrick Drahi, according to information from Heidi.news .

The Swiss Information Site reveals that the media tycoon, owner of SFR and BFM-TV, received on June 30, 2021 a proposal for tax rectification from the tax administration of the canton of Geneva s’ raising 3.7 billion Swiss francs in tax arrears, to which is added an equivalent sum in penalties. Information disputed by the entourage of Patrick Drahi with Heidi.news, who nevertheless had access to documents showing that his lawyers had challenged the tax recovery before an administrative court.

In previous articles, Heidi.News had unveiled several details of the litigation which has opposed Patrick Drahi for several years to the Swiss tax administration. The Geneva taxman suspects the billionaire for having fictitiously domiciled in the canton of Valais, where he benefits from an ultra-ground tax package, while residing in reality most of the year near Geneva. He therefore claims the taxes he would have paid from 2009 to 2016 in the event of Geneva tax domiciliation. A “maximalist estimate” which could certainly have been down in the event of amicable settlement.
