US Court satisfied the lawsuit Masimo, which accused Apple of violating the patent for pulsoximeters for measuring the level of oxygen in the blood used in the Apple Watch Series 6 and later models.
In September 2020, Apple introduced the Apple Watch Series 6 with a pulsoximeter sensor. The sensor provides the application of the Blood Oxygen application on the Apple Watch Series 6 and later models, measuring the level of oxygen in the blood. The basis for the trial was the fact that the sensor and the measurement system itself were designed using Masimo technology.
“Today’s decision should help restore justice in the market. Apple in the same way encroached on the technology of other companies, and we believe that the court puts up Apple as a company that takes other people’s innovations and reupers them,” said Joe Kiani, Masimo Director General .
Apple is going to challenge this decision, but the US International Trade Commission (USITC) is already considering the issue of introducing the ban on Apple Watch watches. Note that most Apple Watch models are produced in Vietnam, India and Brazil.
The conflict of the two companies began back in January 2020, when Masimo accused Apple of theft of commercial secrets (including luring Masimo in Apple) and improper use of their inventions. In 2022, Apple filed a response with Masimo of using her technologies to create smart watches Masimo W1, which are positioned as the first wearable technology for accurate and continuous monitoring of health data, including the level of oxygen, pulse, etc. .
