The mayor of the Guadeloupe commune of Gosier, Cédric Cornet, “was indicted” for “embezzlement of public funds, favoritism, recourse to concealed work”, announced the prosecutor of the Republic of Pointe-à-Pitre In a press release.
The elected official was “placed under judicial supervision” after a night spent in police custody and a referral to the investigating judge. This measure provides “the ban on leaving the Department of Guadeloupe” and the “payment of 40,000 euros as a deposit”, specifies the prosecution’s press release. According to local media, Mr. Cornet’s lawyer intends to challenge the surety and the indictment.
William Korutos, Director General of Services of the Riviera Agglomeration Community of the Levant that Mr. Cornet presides, was also indicted and placed under judicial supervision.
