While new vehicles will be fully electric in Europe in 2035, manufacturers insist on a faster deployment of these essential terminals.
This was an objective that the government had set for 2021 and which has still not been achieved: that of the 100,000 charging stations open to the public. As of December 31, 2022, 82,107 recharging points were open to the public, according to The barometer published Tuesday January 10 by the Association for the Development of Electric Mobility Avere-France and the Ministry of Energy Transition. Over one year, 8,472 new stations representing 28,840 charging points open to the public were deployed in the territory, which represents an increase of 53 %.
The objective of 100,000 terminals “mainly had the ambition to give new impetus to deployments. In this sense, it is successful,” says Clément Molizon, general delegate of Avere-France. “More than 25,000 recharge points came out of the ground in a year, more than between 2016 and 2020!”, Recalls Mr. Molizon, “but we must maintain the effort in order to meet the needs of users.”
The charging points are, for 36 % of them, installed by shops, 35 % are in parking lots, and 24 % on the roads. On the highway, all the areas of the APRR and AREA networks are now equipped, as required by the law, assured the two networks.
The areas of the Sanef network are equipped with 85 % and those of the Vinci network should all be equipped by the end of 2023, said dealerships on Wednesday.
Almost 90 % of charging points offer a slow load, according to the barometer. Less than 7 % offer a charging power greater than 150 kilowatts, allowing complete recharge of the batteries from a vehicle in a few tens of minutes. 2> 100 % of new electric vehicles in Europe in 2035
The terminals are increasingly used: in December 2022, the charging points recorded on average fifteen charging sessions, against less than eight a year earlier. They can therefore be widely used.
However, while new vehicles will all be entirely electric in Europe in 2035, French manufacturers insist on the deployment of charging stations for these vehicles, essential to reassure motorists. The share of electric cars continued to progress on the French market in 2022, reaching 13 % of total registrations, against 10 % the previous year. According to the Avere, it is “1,102,975 light rechargeable electric vehicles in circulation in France, including 346,865 registered in 2022”.
