The Supplier of Digital Decisions for Management of Courts called DNV said that one of his applications was hacked, which was due to which the IT team had to temporarily suspend his work. Kiberataka occurred on January 7 and forced the company to disconnect the SHIPManager application from the network, which serves to track daily tasks, crew management, analysis of cargo transportation data and check the integrity of the vessel.
The supplier said that all users can still use the functionality of the application on board the ship, but only in autonomous mode. According to a representative of DNV, hackers were able to hack only Shipmanager, unable to get to confidential data or other products of the company.
Now the company works with IB specialists to find the perpetrators and remove the application from the autonomous mode as soon as possible.
“All injured customers were informed about what happened,” DNV added. “We apologize for all the malfunctions and inconvenience that this incident could cause.”
