According to new report Avanan, attackers send phishing letters about Copyright violations Facebook*to steal their accounting data. The phishing campaign is aimed at accounts of organizations and contains fake notifications of copyright violations with the threat of removal of the page.
“Your account was suspended. This is due to the fact that your account or actions in it does not comply with our community standards,” one of the messages said. The letter states that the photograph uploaded to the account page violates the Facebook policy regarding copyright. If you do not appeal within 24 hours, by clicking on the link, the account will be deleted.
Fishy letter
According to analysts, the link looked legitimate, but it leads to a fig site for collecting accounting data. In addition, the sender address looked clearly fake, although the text of the letter was “rather believable.” Like all the effective schemes of phishing, the cybercriminal plays the urgency of the issue and even mentions the victim’s page in the letter.
According to Avanan, the main goals of the attack are organizations that use their Facebook* page for advertising, news and press releases, and other business operations.
