Microsoft, the world’s largest software manufacturer and one of the largest information technology companies, plans to reduce more than 10,000 jobs in connection with a slowdown in the global economy. The company, in which more than 220,000 people work, including 6,000 in the UK, is considering reducing about 5% of its labor. The official announcement can be made in the coming days. According to analysts, the staff reduction is the result of a decrease in demanda to conventional products of the company, such as Windows and Office, under the growth of the popularity of cloud services. In addition, staff reduction may be associated with the need to reduce costs and improve efficiency in conditions of reducing economic growth. Some departments, including production, can be strongly affected by restructuring.
The company has not yet officially spoke out about its plans for a staff reduction, but many expect that they will be announced in the near future.
