In 2023, the price of electricity should increase by 15 % for households. And that could have been much worse without the “price shield” established by the State. Clearly: it pays part of the invoice. But this weighs on public finances.
For the Minister of the Economy, Bruno Le Maire, one of the officials of this situation is the European electricity market, which he considers “aberrant” and “obsolete”. Concretely, this market would align the prices of electricity with those of gas, up sharply since the war in Ukraine. Except that France uses very little gas to produce its electricity. So how to explain such a situation?
