Ten years day after the assassination of three Kurdish activists in Paris, there were several thousands from all Europe to parade in the capital on Saturday January 7 to pay tribute to them.
This annual march, which brings together the Kurdish community since 2013, also comes a few days after the impact of the assassination, at the center of Paris, of three Kurds by a 69 -year -old man, who said during his guard at seen having acted by “hatred become pathological” of foreigners.
The procession, supervised by a very present order service, set off at the end of the morning of the Gare du Nord behind a black banner barred photos of the three activists of the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) shot in 2013 and the slogan “The Turkish State has massacred three Kurds in Paris”.
According to the organizers, “at least 25,000 demonstrators” participate in the march. “Nothing will be able to stop the freedom of the Kurds”, “Truth and justice”, “we want justice”, chanted the demonstrators, whose first rallied the place of the Republic to midday via the places of Triple murders of 2013 and 2022.
In 2013, on the night of January 9 to 10, activists Sakine Cansiz, 54, Fidan Dogan, 28, and Leyla Saylemez, 24, were killed by several balls in the head in the grounds Kurdistan information center in Paris. Their alleged assassin, Omer Güney, was quickly imprisoned but died at the end of 2016 in prison, a few weeks before the opening of his trial. The investigation of French justice, which had underlined “the involvement” of the Turkish intelligence services (MIT) without however appointing sponsors, continues. The MIT has officially denied any involvement.
The triple murder committed on December 23 angered the Kurds of France who, despite the suspect’s statements and the first elements of the investigation delivered by the prosecution, continue to question Turkey. Violent incidents had enamelled a gathering of the Kurdish community in Paris on December 24.
