The other day it became known that the Apple Books service appeared audiobooks that were voiced using a special algorithm based on artificial intelligence. Obviously, in this way the company plans not only to reduce the costs of paying for the work of announcements and storytellers, but also to significantly speed up the process of creating audiobooks. About this writes arstechnica.
At the moment, the Apple library has only a few books voiced by the neural network, but in the future there can be more. Books are voiced by two votes of artificial intelligence with the names of Jackson and Madison. Representatives of the company said that these votes were specially created for the artistic genre. The company also plans to create two more votes that will be used for voice acting books on self-development and popular science literature.
In the section “Audiobooks” it is indicated that the audiobooks “are voiced by a digital voice based on the human voice of the narrator.” How exactly this is realized is still unclear.
However, if the quality of voice acting is quite high, then this technology can significantly accelerate the voice acting of texts.
