With its very good sporting record, and in particular the accession to the final of the World Cup in Qatar, the former midfielder was successful, obtaining full powers for four more years, when the Patron of the FFF initially intended to offer him to extend until the summer of 2024. Deschamps won, in passing, a status of undebball. Present on the Blues bench since 2012, he is already the coach of the French team with the longest longevity – before the eight years and six months of Michel Hidalgo – and is therefore in a position to make his mandate last for fourteen years in total.

Concretely, Didier Deschamps has just won the right to participate in two new major international competitions, starting with the European championship, in Germany, in 2024 (from June 14 to July 14). At the head of the Blues, he is the only trophy he misses. The next coach’s next meetings are also set at March 24 and 27, for the first two qualification games for this euro, respectively against the Netherlands and Ireland. If the French team does not crash before or during this deadline, the former coach of Olympique de Marseille can then turn to North America, where it could take part in a fourth world as coach.
