According to new report Wabetainfo, the upcoming version of WhatsApp For Android will allow people to transfer their data from one Android device to another through Wi-Fi. This means that users no longer need to create backup copies of their data in the cloud service to transfer chats to a new device.
The new function was seen in the beta versions of WhatsApp 2.23.1.26 and 2.23.1.27. It works as follows:
- When you install WhatsApp on a new device, you must choose the function of imports of chats from another device;
- On the old smartphone in the WhatsApp settings, you need to select an option of data export, and then scan a QR code that is displayed on the screen. After that, the process of transmitting all the chats and data of the user will begin.
This function in WhatsApp will not only simplify the process of transmitting chats, but will also be much faster, since data transfer via the local network takes much less time than loading them from the cloud service.
The new function is currently under development and can soon be available for beta testers. After that, it should become accessible to all users. But there is no specific information about the release date.
