Olivier Faure, the favorite

Recorded with a score of 73 % at the Congress of Villeurbanne in 2021, Olivier Faure plays his re -election. If the favorite of the stage remains, the emergence of the candidacy of Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, will suck some of the voters. The contemptors of the deputy of Seine-et-Marne criticize him for having put the socialist party in the wheel of Jean-Luc Mélenchon, the leader of rebellious France (LFI), by signing the agreement of the new popular union Ecological and social (Nuts), to have lost many activists, and not to have brought out again political project. Shaken, the boss of the PS tries to give them wages. He promised to make the mayor of Nantes, Johanna Rolland, his number 2 if he was renewed. A choice perceived as a will, on the part of Mr. Faure, to show that he intends to open up to the “great elected officials” of the party.

While the prospect of a common list with LFI in the European elections of 2024 was a source of divisions within the PS, the environmentalists withdrew a thorn from the foot by announcing that they wanted to go alone. “From the moment when the ecologists do not go there, the question no longer arises,” confirms Pierre Jouvet, faithful of Mr. Faure, who hopes in the first round a score between 50 and 52 %. “Afterwards, we will call for the gathering of all the socialists,” adds the spokesperson of the PS.

Hélène Geoffroy, the anti-nune figure

It was behind the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin that the “Dutch”, the sworn enemies of Olivier Faure. At the previous Congress, Hélène Geoffroy had arrived in second position with 27 % of the votes. “Olivier Faure is responsible for our 1.74 % [presidential], she explained to AFP. From the five-year term of François Hollande, we have not worked on what fractured us during the quinquennium and on the subjects that concern the French “. Faithful to her line, she promises to leave the clip if she is elected, unlike Nicolas Mayer-Rossignol, who is careful not to go so far.
