In Russia, the Coordinating Council of the Council for the Development of Digital Technologies for Identification and Authentication based on Biometric Personal Data will be created. The Government Decree was signed by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin, the document is published on the official Internet portal of legal information.
According to the document, the Coordinating Council determines the strategic directions of the development of biometric technologies in the Russian Federation and the development of a single biometric system, and also prepares proposals for implementation in various spheres of legal relations.
In addition, the Coordinating Council considers issues and develops proposals for the improvement of biometric technologies, to unify the requirements of infrastructure of data processing using biometric technologies in order to provide state and municipal services, as well as other services, including in remote format.
The Council approved by the Government will include representatives of the Administration of the President of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Construction, the FSB, Roskomnadzor, Rostelecom, the Center for Biometric Technologies and the Bank of Russia.
