Cyberataka to copper mine led to suspension of copper supply

Copper Mountain Mining produces an average of about 100 million pounds (45.3 thousand tons) of copper per year on its Copper Mountain mine in the southern part of British Colombia. The company introduced several protocols, including isolating operations, after detecting an attack on the IT systems in its office and in the mine itself.

Internal and third-party Copper Mountain IT specialists continue to evaluate risks and actively introduce additional security measures in order to reduce the risk to the organization finance. Copper Mountain is investigating the source of the attack and is in contact with the relevant authorities. By words , as a result “There were no incidents related to safety or the environment.”
