Suspense enthusiasts should be for their expense: the 400 delegates from the European-Ecology Congress-Greens are preparing to elect officially December 10 in Rungis their new national secretary, Marine Tondelier. Little known to the general public, the elected Pas-de-Calais will take the reins of a party in crisis.
leaded by the disappointing result of Yannick Jadot in the presidential election (4.6 %), the party remains entangled in the duel between the former Candidat and the Ecofeminist deputy Sandrine Rousseau. And the accusations of psychological violence against an ex-partner brought against the outgoing national secretary Julien Bayou have finished weakening it.
Marine Tondelier, 36, who became known by facing the national rally in Hénin-Beaumont, came from the outgoing management of the movement. The candidate came widely at the top of the first round, November 26, with 47 % of the voices of the members.
Among the other five heads of lists, all women, only two obtained more than 10 %: Sophie Bussière (18 %), supported by Yannick Jadot, and Mélissa Camara (13.5 %), supported by Sandrine Rousseau and part of the left wing of EELV.
internal tensions
With its comfortable advance, Marine Tondelier has initiated negotiations with its competitors, to ensure a strong majority in the management team on Saturday. But the future national secretary, who campaigned on the “collective” by denouncing the intestine quarrels that divide the party, will not have succeeded in sparing internal tensions.
She hoped to file a unique synthetic motion at the time of the final vote of the 400 delegates, but may not bring together all other motions around her line.
Melissa Camara could indeed file her own motion. His team had emerged dissatisfied with negotiations initiated for several days, in particular on the still thorny issue of the distribution of 15 positions of the Executive Office and on the relationship with the new ecological and social union (NUPES) concluded in May between rebellious France, EELV , the Socialist Party and the Communist Party.
divergence on the European elections
judging that the line was clearly chosen in the first round by activists, Marine Tondelier has indeed laid its requirements: a synthetic motion based on its initial motion, and without possible evolution on the question of alliances and European elections .
A blocking point for the team of Melissa Camara, who wants to wear the colors of the Nuts high and advocates not to close the door to a common left list to the Europeans of 2024.
Conversely, Marine Tondelier promises an independent EELV list to the Europeans and, without rejecting the cloud, wants to give priority to the creation of a “great movement of political ecology”.
The Camara team also denounces the positions that have been offered to it within the Executive Bureau, and rejects the “wages of solidarity”, which Marine Tondelier requests. “If they want to represent the party, they cannot criticize it outside,” explains the entourage of the future chef, who wants a “benevolent and inclusive” party. “Divergent voices no longer have the right to express their differences,” deplored Alain Coulombel, number 2 on Melissa Camara’s list.
The other three motions, which could negotiate with it, should rally to the new direction.
Marine Tondelier aims to refound EELV – whose name she wishes to change – by modifying her internal rules, often considered complex and not very conquited to conquer power. The northern elected representative, who defends a “popular ecology”, wishes to “massify” the party, especially in the direction of rural areas and working -class neighborhoods, and bring together one million environmental sympathizers by the end of her mandate.
