IBM united with Finnish startup to speed up pharmaceutical studies to quantum speeds

IBM concluded a partnership with Algorithmiq, a startup in the field of quantum calculations located in Helsinki in order to significantly reduce the time and costs necessary for pharmaceutical companies for the withdrawal of new drugs to the market.

As the General Director and co -founder of the startup says, quantum calculations are the key to the revolution in the field of pharmaceuticals.

Usually, in order to bring a new drug to the market, pharmaceutical companies spend about 10 years and up to $ 1.3 billion on this. But Algorithmiq states that its revolutionary approach will significantly accelerate the process of developing new drugs and at the same time will help make them much more effective and less harmful.

It is expected that quantum devices similar to the fact that IBM has been developed will be enough to achieve significant progress in pharmaceuticals, unlike other pressing problems, such as climate change, which requires much more powerful quantum computers.
