François Braun announced, Monday, November 21, before the National Assembly, an additional envelope of 543 million euros for the hospital in 2022, due to the “additional costs linked to the covid”. This extension, via an amendment to the government to the social security budget draft, “is part of our unprecedented effort to support the hospital and all the staff that operate it,” said the Minister of Health.

It is added to the 570 million euros for the hospital presented in front of the Senate in particular to “face the early bronchiolitis epidemic”, said Braun. The former president of the Samu-Umu-Urgences de France syndicate praised a project of budget “commitment and responsibility”, which also provides for health preventive measures and a year of internship in priority in medical deserts for generalists in training.

He failed to convince the left opposition. Socialist deputy Jérôme Guedj defended in the hemicycle a motion of preliminary rejection of the draft budget, examined in new reading, stressing that these additions make “a little bit DIY” against “the collapse of the public hospital” , and that the executive remains according to him “in the denial of inflation”.

risk of a new 49.3

Some eight hundred amendments have been deposited, but, according to parliamentary sources, the debates could turn short: Elisabeth Borne, deprived of an absolute majority, is preparing to draw once again the constitutional weapon of the 49.3 to have the adopted the text without vote. “This budget is that of the government, but it is also that of national representation,” insisted Mr. Braun, without convincing the deputies.

m. Guedj said his “frustration” in the face of a government that will only “peck here or there” to retain an amendments to the oppositions. “The abuse of 49.3 precipitated will harm the health of our parliamentary democracy,” said Thibault Bazin (Les Républicains).

On October 23, the minister had already announced a release of 150 million euros for the “services in the hospital tension”, in particular in pediatrics. A decision taken, in particular, after 4,000 caregivers had sent an open letter to Emmanuel Macron, published by the Parisian , to denounce the saturation of hospital pediatric services and its consequences on the health of children.
