Strasbourg, “green order” for pregnant women

Organic vegetable baskets will be distributed to 800 women, who will also be encouraged to rethink their diet to limit exposure to endocrine disruptors.

It targets a period during which the human being is particularly sensitive to it: fetal life and early childhood. On the model of the “sport-health on prescription” system set up ten years ago, a “green prescription” could thus be prescribed by health professionals (gynecologists, midwives and general practitioners) to the pregnant Strasbourg will carry volunteers. It will give access, free of charge, to two awareness workshops organized within the ten medico-social centers of the city, as well as to the delivery, each week, of three kg of organic vegetables from local farms. >

In the context of the system, 800 women will be followed for seven months, through 110 workshops informing them of the practices to adopt to protect themselves from these substances, but also to rethink the content of their plate. The recruitment of participants goes through health professionals. Volunteers will be able to register online, on the platform launched on Wednesday. The first panel was recruited by word of mouth. Michèle – who asked to keep anonymous – pregnant with her fourth child, has integrated the device in order to better learn about the issue. “Many children around me have communication problems, they isolate themselves or are angry. I have often wondered why, and I got first answers today,” said the young woman.
