The sentence fell for Antoine Dupont. The scrum half and captain of the XV of France was suspended for four weeks, said World Rugby in a statement on Thursday, November 17. A sanction which follows the red card received at the start of the second period during the victory of the Blues against South Africa (30-26), Saturday November 12.

The Toulouse player had been guilty of a dangerous tackle on the South African winger Cheslin Kolbe, powered in the air and who fell on the head. “The fault, it is there. Even if it is not voluntary, we saw it well, it rocks, it could have hurt itself,” he admitted just after the match.

Only three weeks of suspension for roof

The World Rugby disciplinary committee, before which he appeared on Wednesday, November 16, initially inflicted an eight -week suspension, but lowered it in half because of his virgin “locker” – it was There of the first red card of his career-and his apologies.

After their victories against Australia (30-29), on November 5, and South Africa, the Blues will therefore have to do without him for their last test of the fall tour against the Japan, Sunday in Toulouse. The Bordeaux Maxime Lucu should replace him with the fray, while Charles Ollivon will recover the captain’s armband.

Antoine Dupont will also miss three other meetings, this time with his Toulouse club: two top 14 games, against Lyon and Perpignan, as well as the trip to the European Cup from the Irish Munster, December 11.

Also excluded during the match between France and South Africa, the South African Pieter-Steph of the roof was received three weeks of suspension. A sanction which has also been halved (six weeks initially), due to its disciplinary liability. The third line had however been the author of a dangerous clearing on Jonathan Danty while the latter was on the ground in a group.
