Unknown hackers who in October stole medical data of 9.7 million customers of the largest Australian medical insurance company Medibank, began to publish personal data of victims on the network.
On the Internet were documents of at least a thousand customers of the company. They contain personal data of people, information about abortion, treatment of alcohol or drug addiction, etc.
“Unfortunately, we expect criminals to continue to publish data daily,” said David Kochkar, CEO Director Director.
David Kochkar explained that the company did not pay the ransom to hackers, because they would still post stolen data. Moreover, he believes that the payment can encourage hackers to extort money from our customers, which will harm a larger number of people, making Australia an attractive target for cybercriminals.
