In the Trumpian parallel world, an obsession is central: electoral fraud. Especially during a day with challenges as heavy as midterms. Extending the effort undertaken since the presidential election of November 2020, Donald Trump distilled acidic pastilles over the hours of elections. They echoed his lost confrontation with Joe Biden and were rehearsing for future deadlines. As if the midterms were only an element of decor, in a film of which he would be the hero.

On his Truth Social network, from midday, the former president published messages denouncing supposed voting anomalies, fueling the idea of voluntary manipulations. He focused on the malfunction of the machines in Arizona, “in republican/conservative areas”. “It starts again? People will not let themselves be done!” Donald Trump called the attorney general of the State, Mark Brnovich, to become “the greatest hero of all” and to “save our country of cancer in the interior “. Then he recorded a video. Standing in front of photos of his presidency, including that of the handshake with the North Korean Kim Jong-un, Donald Trump launched a call to the voters of the county of Maricopa: “Do not leave your file! Stay where you are!”

He also considered “scandalous” the fact that it would probably take several days to determine the winner in Pennsylvania, one of the long -awaited races for the Senate. It was however information known to all, announced in advance by local officials, due to the requirements of republican elected officials in this state in matters of counting. Donald Trump also mentioned the fate of “many voters” in Detroit, who could not have voted because they were already recorded in the context of early vote. “Protest, protest, protest!”

Meanwhile, on the podcast of his former special advisor, Steve Bannon, Mike Lindell, the boss of the Mypillow company, also propagated the new conspiratorial suspicions of the day. Lindell assured that the events in Arizona will constitute “the great criminal history of the year”. In a survey published in the evening by the CBS channel, a question gave the thrill: it focused on the victory of Joe Biden in 2020. Legitimate or not? No, for 34 % of those questioned, a terrible index of the grip of disinformation orchestrated for eighteen months on the subject.
