Texas executed on Wednesday November 10 a sixty -something sentenced to the death penalty for the murder of his own mother, despite the appeals of his lawyers. Tracy Beatty, 61, received a lethal injection into the penitentiary of Huntsville, in the south of the United States.
He had been sentenced in 2004 to capital punishment for strangling his mother. Just out of prison after serving sentences for theft and violence, he had been hosted at home despite their “conflictual relationship”, according to court documents. When she asked him to leave, he strangled her before driving her and burying his corpse.
As the date set for its execution, its lawyers have filed final appeal to try to save it, on the grounds that it suffers from intellectual deficiencies. Two doctors met him last month, but they assure that they had not been able to carry out a conclusive expertise because the penitentiary authorities refused to remove his handcuffs.
Tracy Beatty is the 13th sentence to death executed since the start of the year in the United States and the 4th in Texas.
