Meta, Facebook’s parent company, announced Wednesday, November 9, the abolition of 11,000 jobs, or about 13% of its workforce.

“Today, I share some of the most difficult changes we have made in the history of Meta,” announced the group’s boss, Mark Zuckerberg, in a message addressed to employees. “I decided to reduce the size of our team by around 13 % and to separate from 11,000 from our talented employees.”

Meta had some 87,000 employees worldwide on September 30. Twitter, freshly bought by Elon Musk, comes on his side to dismiss about half of his 7,500 employees.

The platforms whose economic model is based on advertising underwent advertising budget cuts, struggling with inflation and the increase in interest rates.
