Starlink will begin to limit the speed of home Internet during peak hours for customers consuming more than 1 TB of traffic per month. The restrictions will be introduced in December 2022 as part of the “conscientious use policy” for users from the USA and Canada.
Since December, Starlink customers will start every new month with the status of “priority access”, which will provide them with the maximum speed of the Internet. However, if the user at the “peak clock” (from 7:00 to 23:00) uses more than 1 TB of traffic per month, then he will be assigned the status “low priority”, which will greatly limit the data transfer rate in the most busy hours.
Starlink also notes that traffic used in non -pike times, namely from 23 p.m. to 7 a.m., will not spend precious traffic terabyte. Additional traffic can be purchased at a price of 25 cents per 1 GB.
