A Franco-Australian national was removed in eastern Chad, in a border province with Sudan, “by individuals still unidentified,” the government said on Saturday 29 on a statement. “This abduction occurred [Friday], in the afternoon,” said the Chadian authorities without giving more information on the circumstances of the removal.
The authorities, however, specified that this man worked at Oryx park, managed by the Sahara Conservation Fund, a non -governmental organization (NGO) for the preservation of wildlife.
The Sahara Conservation Fund was created in 2004 to face the “wave of catastrophic extinction” which “threatens the fauna of large birds and mammals in Africa”, can be read on the NGO website . The animal park covers nearly 78,000 square kilometers.
“The government has mobilized all security and human means in order to get their hands on the kidnappers,” said the Chadian authorities.
