The Valence Criminal Court pronounced Tuesday, October 25, the general relaxation on the favoritism affair of which Eric Piolle, the ecological mayor of Grenoble was suspected, in the award of a public market by his city. The deliberation was rendered without motivation at the hearing and the motivations will be given to the parties later, said Mr. Piolle’s lawyer, Thierry Tourrey.

“General relaxation in the case of the festival of the tiles. I would like to underline the quality of the contradictory debate during the trial. I have since the start in the service of justice. I assume my role as mayor, chief of ‘An organization, but I remain a litigant like everyone else “, Tweeted Eric Piolle .

The 49 -year -old councilor had appeared with six co -of which became at the end of September in Valence, where the case had been disoriented, for accusations of granting unjustified advantages for the benefit of the rocket association, in charge of the organization of a popular festival in Grenoble in 2015 and 2016. The town hall estimated that in this case that was in this case a public market with an adapted procedure for an artistic service not requiring competition.

no concealment

During the trial at the end of September, the prosecutor Laurent de Caigny had spared Eric Piolle, believing that there was no certainty “that he maneuvered” or “concealed”. He had therefore not claimed to condemn, without however explicitly requesting the release. For the former director general of municipal services, François Langlois, and an employee, the prosecutor had not required sentence either, believing that they had acted “in good faith”.

He had, on the other hand, claimed fines with or without stay for the other four defendants – two ex -territorial agents of Grenoble and two representatives of rockets – for having committed or took advantage of a form of “office offense” .

The debates of September 26 and 27, quite technical, had largely focused on the nature of the service of the cultural collective for the first two editions of the Festival of Tiles, which had not been the subject of tender, exposing stakeholders to these suspicions of favoritism.
