maintaining doubt about a possible return, the former head of state criticizes the current first secretary, Olivier Faure, for having aligned the Socialist Party on “radical positions”, because of his alliance with LFI within the NUPS.
What is François Hollande playing? For the past ten days, the former President of the Republic, who has toured television sets and radios – on the occasion of the publication of his Book upheavals (Stock, 220 p., 15.50 €), devoted In international relations -, multiplies criticism against the management of the Socialist Party (PS) and maintains doubt about a possible return.
Saturday October 22, in the program “What era!” On France 2, Léa Salamé presents a photo of Jean-Luc Mélenchon by asking him what question he would like to ask the founder of rebellious France (LFI). “But why still continue?”, Acknowledges the former boss of the PS. “This one, it will come back to you when you are going to present yourself,” retorts Christophe Dechavanne, without provoking denial at the former head of state. Another target that evening: the current first secretary of the PS, Olivier Faure, already attacked on October 13 on Franceinfo. “When we have been responsible for a party for five years and (…) that we are not able to have a credible presidential program, we are silent and leave the way,” said François Hollande. The latter is sorry that his party is unable to “make useful proposals”, because of his alliance with LFI within the new Ecological and Social People’s Union (Nuts), which pushes him on “radical positions”. Rather than being aligned with the “rebellious”, the former Elysée Local is that the PS finds its autonomy, in order to rebuild a new “driving force of the left”.
François Hollande, who pleads for a “new incarnation” at the head of the party, is careful not to designate a successor to Mr. Faure, preferring to quote pell-mell the president of the Occitanie region, Carole Delga, Jean-Christophe Cambadélis, Bernard Cazeneuve, or the mayor of Vaulx-en-Velin (Rhône), Hélène Geoffroy, who will appear against the current socialist boss. He does not see himself stacking, he says in private. But it does not take the prospect of a national destiny if the winds became promising. “He wants to show that he is always ready to serve. You never know how the economic situation turns,” smiles a historic leader, who knows him well. Except that even the dissidents of the PS, opposed to Olivier Faure, do not seem to wait for him. François Hollande did not boost the last platform in the form of a candidacy of Hélène Geoffroy. Nor organized the political start of Carole Delga in Bram (Aude), who also dreams of recondizing the left. No federation of the PS also invited him to present his book.
